It's a little hard to believe we're at that time of the year again, but it is almost time for everyone to start thinking about what to do for the holidays. To help us plan for in person gatherings the CDC has published some tips (CDC has taken this page down as of 10/7/21) during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic:
The safest way is still to gather virtually instead of in person.
Next safest is to gather outdoors instead of indoors (& keep mask on if it is a large crowd unless eating or drinking).
...and then we have indoor gatherings, which likely a lot of folks will still opt for, in this instance, consider the following:
Get vaccinated (& the booster if you are eligible).
Keep doors and windows open and use fans to increase ventilation.
Open more than one window or door whenever possible; open windows/doors across from each other to promote cross-ventilation.
Use fans to pull outdoor air in and push indoor air out. If you use only 1 fan, align the fan with the wind direction.
Keep your mask on unless eating and/or drinking.
Use an air purifier with a HEPA filter.

Other general tips:
If you have COVID-19 symptoms or are generally not feeling well, STAY HOME.
Set ground rules regarding safety PRIOR to the gathering (e.g., acceptable safety measures and behaviors), nobody wants to get into a shouting match over politics at a family gathering (as much as Americans love to do this over the thanksgiving turkey).
Stay safe & good luck.
